Paris 2024 French Riviera Yacht Charter - Enjoy Prime Viewing Spots for the Summer Olympics

The Paris Olympic Games 2024 (26 July – 11 August) will put the focus firmly on France this summer, with the perennially popular French Riviera cruising ground set to host this summer’s sailing events as well as some of its football matches. By booking a Paris 2024 yacht charter, this will give you a luxurious base for enjoying some of the 2024 Olympic Games’ most thrilling events.

Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Events: A Spectacle on the French Riviera

As the Mediterranean’s premier cruising ground, it’s fitting that the French Riviera will be at the heart of the sailing action this summer. The coastal city of Marseille – France’s oldest city – will stage all the sailing events at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Marseille is the ideal choice for the event’s nautical base as its relatively constant winds with no currents and tides means conditions are generally well suited to sailing races, while its modern city and Mediterranean backdrop offer spectacular views.

By the time of your Paris 2024 yacht charter, the Roucas-Blanc Marina will have been transformed into an Olympic venue, ready for the events and renamed ‘Marseille Marina’ for the duration of the games. It will include numerous viewing and hospitality areas for those who want to be in the centre of the sailing action as they cheer on competitors in the kitesurfing, dinghy racing and windsurfing events.

Marseille has excellent form when it comes to hosting world-class sailing events, from the America’s Cup in 2004 to the final of the SailGP race in 2019. Earlier this year, the city had a good rehearsal for the Olympic events when it hosted the 58th Semaine Nautique Internationale de Méditerranée over the Easter weekend.

Exclusive Vantage Points: Spectacular Views of the Olympic Action

While tickets for Olympic events are highly sought after – and in many cases sold out – ticket packages through official Paris Olympics 24 partner On Location offer some of the best seats available in the new-look Marseille Marina.

But of course, there is no more exclusive vantage point for this summer’s sailing events in Marseille than from the deck of your private Paris 2024 yacht charter. The on-water viewing access is reserved for the privileged few, placing you right in the heart of the action where the spray and wind in your face will take the excitement of the race to the next level.

When the competitions are over, you can continue your holiday with a charter around some of the Riviera’s other key spots, from the glamorous beach clubs of St Tropez to the preened streets of Nice and the cosmopolitan buzz of Cannes.

Tailored Experiences: Customising Your French Riviera Yacht Charter

While French Riviera yacht charters can be exceptional at any point in the season, for your Paris Olympics 2024 yacht charter you can really ramp up the exclusive factor.

On Location can pair your enjoyment of the sailing events in Marseille with access to other events, including the Opening Ceremony in Paris, with end-to-end travel arrangements and curated moments you will remember forever. Their most desirable package is the Trocadero Exclusive that invites guests to a gourmet dinner with views of the Eiffel Tower, live music, a private viewing area on the banks of the Seine to watch the parade, and reserved seating to witness the final section of the ceremony.

Once transported to the French Riviera and within the comfort of your Paris 2024 yacht charter, you can continue with the bespoke, VIP theme with invites to this season’s hottest parties where the excitement on the water will spill over into the clubs and bars of some of the Riviera’s most exclusive venues, and tables at some of the Mediterranean’s most iconic restaurants.

Paris 2024 Schedule: Where & When to Watch Olympic Sailing Events

Sailing events have been an Olympic staple since 1900 and Marseille will be the Olympic venue for a total of 10 sailing events this summer, from 28 July to 8 August. Each event will be contested in a fleet race format, meaning competitors will race simultaneously, competing sail-to-sail with the other boats in their field, with the aim of being the first to complete the triangular course and cross the finish line.

Athletes will compete across six disciplines: single-handed laser dinghies; the skiff ‘forty-niner’; the 470; the Nacra 17; the IQ foil windsurf, and the new discipline of kite foiling.

For a long time, the sailing events at the Olympic Games were dominated by Great Britain and the United States, but there are now some French athletes to look out for, including Lauriane Nolot, the reigning kitefoil world champion; and Jean-Baptiste Bernaz, who already has four Olympic titles to his name.

Booking Your Paris 2024 Yacht Charter: Plan Your Olympic Adventure

As well as the numerous sailing events, Marseille will also host Olympic football matches at the Stade Orange Velodrome between 24 July and 6 August, while French Riviera charter guests can also enjoy football matches at Nice Stadium or even the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, which is just a short helicopter ride away.

Between events, you can spend your time on your luxury yacht charter visiting the chic beach clubs of the Cote d’Azur, people-watching from the terraces of Michelin-starred restaurants, or port-hopping and boutique shopping your way along this beautiful coastline. More adventurous guests may even wish to embark on a wine-tasting tour of the pastoral paradise of Provence. There are endless opportunities, for the French Riviera is somewhere you could never tire of.
